Hello everyone,
I am sorry to write in English but my Italian is not very good.
I am thinking of going back to Lybia possibly this year (Defender 110)and would like to obtain any information anyone can give me on the below tracks.
a) Crossing the Idhan Murzuq West to East, from Serdelles/Ghat to Tajarhi. Has anyone done it, is it worth it, does anyone have WP or know were I can obtain them, etc. If I leave from Ghat, as anyone gone into Akakus without the guide? b) From Tajarhi via Lybian Tibisti into Waw an Namus and then crossing the Rabianah into Al Khorfra. Can anyone give me info on this and perhaps WPs or where to get them. As anyone done Tajarhi-Lybian Tibisti-Jabal Nuqay (Bikubiti)- Ma'tan as Sarah-Al Khorfra. Is it nice, can we obtain diesel for ex: in Bikubiti, etc. c) Crossing the Great Sand Sea South-North from Al Khofra-Jalu. I know it possible but any information, WP's etc. that anyone can give is very welcome. One last question: last year we did the classical Ghadames-Ghat according to the Gandini guide. At about 300 km south of Ghadames we were stopped by the military and held up for two days after which we had to go back to Ghadames to obtain a visa for the crossing! We did not know but they told us that anywhere in Lybia before you go off-road you have to go the Police station to say were you are going and how many days you will take and then obtain a visa for ex: to go from Ghadames to Ghat!!!! Or you had to go with a guide. We found it very strange because nobody had mentioned this before. As this happened to anyone, does anybody know about this or we were just unlucky with the military or maybe the police just want to sell us a guide? Thank you very much for any information you can give me. Rui Nuno - Portugal. rui_nuno@hotmail.com nunorui@usa.net
